In 2006 Troy Dunn and Andy Burchfield jointly and prayerfully considered ways they could “live beyond themselves” for God’s Kingdom. Troy had championed many small group efforts for numerous denominations and had attended most every small group leadership-training event the country offered. Combined with Andy’s business savvy the two started a small ministry to help churches and small communities by providing an interactive one-day training event for small group leadership.
The second initiative stretched them a bit. While looking at a global map of the status of Evangelical Christianity it became evident that India was a gold mine for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Christianity has spread to only 1-2 % of India’s 1.2 billion people. The major religion is Hindu followed by Muslim. Therefore, River found a partner called Mission India and on June 5, 2008 became a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) ministry. River partners with Mission India in 3 ways by:
- Training Indian pastors to start Christian Churches in India
- Providing Bible School for the children of India
- Providing literacy classes for the people of India
To date, River has raised funds to start 8 churches, send 4000+ children to Bible School and send 56 women through literacy class. All donations made to River go directly to India. As God blesses His work through River… Andy and Troy are just thankful to be along for the ride!
