Troy Dunn is the co-founder of River of the Spirit and has been employed at Alamo Heights United Methodist church since 1988. He was raised on a cattle ranch around Paris, Texas and has lived in Texas all his life. From a very early age Troy’s mother taught her children Bible scriptures by putting them to song… to this day Troy still remembers Bible scriptures by singing them in his head.
Troy graduated from Paris Junior College with a music degree; Hardin Simmons University with a bachelor of Education degree and in 2004 completed his master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of the Incarnate Word.
Troy has always worked professionally in the church environment… 20 years spent in youth ministry before he transitioned to small group leadership training and assimilation of new members. Troy has trained hundreds of people in small group leadership skills as well as staff development.
Troy is married to Cheryl Dunn, a professional counselor (LCSW) for individual, adolescent and couples therapy. They have two energized boys, Cameron 11 and Christopher 6.
Troy loves the apostle Paul’s words from 1 Corinthians 9:22, “I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.”
